USF Polytechnic campus given all-clear after nearby bomb threat – Archive

Buildings at the University of South Florida Polytechnic campus in Lakeland were evacuated this morning after a bomb threat was called in at nearby Polk State College.

Students signed up for USF's emergency alert services received an all-clear message on their phones.

Polk State’s Winter Haven and Lakeland campuses were evacuated at approximately 9:30 a.m. USF Polytechnic was also searched, and was declared safe for normal activities at around 1:30 p.m.

Students who opted in to USF’s emergency alert system received a text message that the campus was clear. More information about this service can be found at the MoBull Messenger website.

USF Polytechnic’s website was updated to read: “ALERT » A bomb threat was received through Polk State College for both the Winter Haven and Lakeland campuses today. The police officials have searched the premises and have provided clearance to resume all activities at the USF Poly campus in Lakeland.”
