Earlier this month, USF’s board of trustees approved a $35.6 million renovation to the Sun Dome at USF Tampa, the home of the school’s basketball teams, volleyball teams, and a wide array of other sporting and non-sporting events. Already, after less than a month of interior work, most fans would have a hard time recognizing the facility.
USF can now add Quidditch to its very active sports community. The sport, popularized by J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” novels, spawned an International Quidditch Association spanning 800 registered teams across the world. Zach Cornett and Lindsay Fussell founded USF Quidditch. “Lindsay heard about it from down at Ringling,” Cornett said. “They helped her start it.

After 23 years, Dr. George Michael Killenberg, professor and founding director of the Department of Journalism and Media studies, retires.
