The USF men’s basketball team, which has lost 12 of their last 14 games, continues to come up short in close games.
The Bulls fell to the Connecticut Huskies 66-53 Sunday afternoon, after a late run by the Huskies. The Bulls are on a four-game losing streak for the second time this season.
Although the Bulls were within two points late in the game, the No. 24 Huskies rallied with a 12-2 run to seal the game. The Bulls lost both games to the Huskies this season.
Junior Nehemias Morillo did what he could in the loss, scoring 18 points and recording three steals.
The Bulls (7-13) have struggled with conference opponents, winning only one of their seven games so far in the American Athletic Conference.
The team’s field-goal percentage has dropped to .442, ranking them 140th in the nation. More alarming is that the Bulls are scoring 63.8 points per game, which is 268th nationally.
Just one spot out of last place in the conference, the Bulls’ next opponent is second best team in the AAC, Southern Methodist University, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Sun Dome. After SMU, Bulls will have the face Tulsa, who is undefeated against conference opponents.
Both SMU and Tulsa have already embarrassed the Bulls earlier in the season (SMU 83-49, Tulsa 75-58).
