As the semester slowly comes to a shrieking halt, everyone can’t help but think about what they are going to do once the struggle is over.
Hibernation always seems like a great idea # just sleeping for as long as possible. There’s no doubt you’ll be tired after the long hours spent awake at night, cramming your mind and testing your memory’s capacity.
After spending all this time straining your brain and regurgitating information, it feels nice to literally do nothing. Become a zombie. Just sit on your couch and Netflix binge for as long as you want. Not showering and sitting in the same clothes for three days in a row while eating Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food can feel like heaven.
However, restlessness can take the best of us, it’s hard to sit down and stop after the constant stress. Indulge yourself with a strong drink, you deserve it # if you’re 21 of course. Cask and Ale is the holy Mecca of cocktail bars in St. Pete. Order a Maple Old Fashioned; it will get the job done.
Sudden removal of the built-up tension can be uplifting, but also overwhelming. Take a deep breath and relax. Take advantage of the beach; feel the sand between your toes and embrace your freedom. Watch the sunset to the beat of drums at the Treasure Island drum circle. Drum your troubles away.
Go on that road trip you’ve been planning forever, but haven’t been able to take. Pile a bunch of your friends in the car and take off. Split the cheap hotel costs and gas # travel light. College is one of the best times of your life, and you don’t have to travel in luxury to have fun. Go see the world, or at least the state.
See your friends and family. Time is always of the essence in college and there’s not always the time to see your friends or family. Catch up, socialize and have fun.
However you decide to start the summer, enjoy your freedom while it lasts. There’s always next semester.
