Grab a glass of Tang and dust off those jelly shoes, Nickelodeon brings back childhood favorites.
Children of the 1990s, rejoice! TeenNick released the vault of its ’90s shows, now airing throwback classics every night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The channel is bringing back childhood favorites like CatDog, Ren and Stimpy and Hey Arnold, as well as game shows like Double Dare.
USF St. Petersburg student Alex Gomez, 18, is a big fan of Rugrats.
“I can’t wait to look back on my childhood,” Gomez said. “The shows remind me of all the times I spent with my siblings on Saturday mornings laughing our butts off.”
The new series is appropriately named “The Splat,” sharing similarities to the programming series “Nick at Night,” and isn’t a separate channel. In addition to running these vintage shows, Nickelodeon is also using some replicate schedules, airing the programs just as they did in the mid-1990s.
In order to bring this blast from the past into modern day, the network has combined the programming with social media platforms for the ultimate user interaction.
Fans can connect with their favorite shows through memes related to the cartoons and live action shows on Splat’s website, which are shareable on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Viewers can also connect with The Splat through Instagram, Vine and YouTube. The website also features themed games, like the Rugrats: Hiccupping Dil and CatDog trivia.
TeenNick will be airing the following programs. A daily lineup is available online:
All That, The Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, CatDog, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey, Arnold!, Hey, Dude, Kenan & Kel, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts and The Wild Thornberrys.
