Student Body Vice President Ysatis Jordan used her public Twitter account to attack her coworkers by name and to reference their sexuality.

On April 10, she tweeted: “Waiting for two gay males to call my boss crying about something that doesn’t even concern them. I’m taking bets on how long you think it will take.”

The tweet came after the failure of a bill drafted by senators Naya Payne and Gregory Cote. The bill proposed the creation of a new position, secretary of the senate, to increase transparency and outreach between SG and the student body.

After the bill failed, Payne was issued a notification of non-compliance for “lobbying senators in private to support pending legislation.” He challenged the reprimand through SG’s supreme court.

On April 15, Jordan tweeted: “Heard this girl named Mya Horak is obsessed with me. Apparently she can’t stop talking about me on Twitter and Tumblr I hope someone lets her know that I’m engaged.”

Horak is the associate justice of the SG judicial branch. She was present for the trial in which Payne challenged his notification of non-compliance.

“I’m incredibly disappointed by the tweets, and to me it seems rather unprofessional,” Horak said. “Her tweets come across as a personal attack on my character when she doesn’t even know me.

“Not to mention her (April 10) tweet. It appears a paid student leader on campus is a homophobe… To me it seems she’s condoning cyberbullying and intolerance to the students at our school.”

Jordan makes $8,325 a year funded by Activities and Services fees. Her responsibilities as vice president include representing SG at campus events, overseeing the executive branch and assuming the role of student body president should they be unable to complete their term.

Although Jordan did not immediately respond to a request for comment, she took to Twitter again on April 17 after receiving backlash from students on Facebook when a Crow’s Nest reporter posted screenshots of her tweets in the group, “USFSP Know It All’s Guide to Knowing it All.”

She tweeted, “If I use the word hotdog in a sentence does that mean I’m anti-hotdog? Lmk (Let me know).”

  1. This is incredibly unprofessional, I don’t want my tuition money going to someone who’s clearly ignorant and noncontributory to positive campus culture. She should be reprimanded.

  2. This is all complete bullshit mind ya business and stay off people twitter if you don’t want your feelings hurt! Ysatis is a GREAT memeber of our SG and y’all don’t deserve her. FREEDOM OF SPEACH IS A THING!

  3. Outing people, directly or indirectly, is not the business of our VP. Everyone makes mistakes, but there is no warrant to excuse them. College is a place to grow, let’s all do that.
