USF St. Petersburg has parted ways with Sodexo, the food services company that has run the campus dining program since 2012.
“USF St. Petersburg would like to acknowledge and thank Sodexo, for their being the foodservice provider for the last eight years,” Regional Chancellor Martin Tadlock said in a letter to the St. Petersburg campus community on May 28.
The new provider will be Aramark, a Philadelphia-based corporation that manages dining services at nearly 600 colleges and universities, according to its website. Aramark has run dining at USF Tampa since 2002.
In the letter, Tadlock said the change will mean “reduced meal plan rates,” new “mobile ordering and pickup for campus guests ‘on the go,’ ” and increased student employment opportunities. He did not elaborate.
According to Tadlock’s letter, meal plans will be accepted at both the USF St. Petersburg and USF Tampa campuses.
Aramark, which will take over June 10, will run dining operations at The Reef in the University Student Center and the Osprey, the new residence hall that is scheduled to open in August. It will be available to students once dining operations resume.
“The time spent at USF was some of the best in my campus dining experience,” Sodexo Dining Hall Manager Louis Duran said in an email to The Crow’s Nest.
