Veronica Jimenez and Eran Fruehauf were inaugurated as the St. Petersburg SG governor and lieutenant governor in a Microsoft Teams meeting on April 20.
They begin their tenure as governor and lieutenant governor on May 10.
Jimenez and Fruehauf ran uncontested this spring, and received 50 votes.
“We want to keep our school safe, sustainable and accessible for everybody,” Jimenez said in a speech at the inauguration.
Jimenez said she and Fruehauf are “eager to begin” working on programs for late-night golf cart transportation on campus, cleaning up the bay and cleaning up the campus’ butterfly garden.
Jimenez, a third-year political science major and criminology minor, is currently a member of the system-wide Senate. She served as a senator, the Senate pro tempore and the Senate president in the pre-consolidated St. Petersburg SG.
Fruehauf, a third-year double major in political science and world language and culture, currently serves as a member of the system-wide Senate and the chair of the Campus Council. Fruehauf also served as a pre-consolidation senator.
“As we hope to return to normalcy in the fall, just know that our doors will always be open when you need support or advocacy,” Jimenez said in her speech.
St. Petersburg SG Adviser Bob Herron said he was excited to work with Jimenez and Fruehauf in their new roles.
“I have no doubt they will be extremely successful for our students here on the St. Petersburg campus, providing support, initiatives and advocacy for our students,” Herron said.
Riffatul Islam and Jovanna Arce were inaugurated as Sarasota-Manatee governor and lieutenant governor, and Alexis Roberson and Kiara Brooks were inaugurated as Tampa governor and lieutenant governor.
