USF will be administering the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at the University Student Center from 1-4 p.m. on April 28.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is a one dose vaccine.
Distribution of this vaccine was temporarily paused earlier this month due to a concern of blood clots. The pause ended on April 23.
According to the CDC, “a review of all available data at this time shows that the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine’s known and potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks.”
“The fact the CDC decided to pause the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a good thing and it is a sign that the safety checks for these vaccines are working,” said Dr. Joseph Puccio, executive and medical director of USF Student Health Services, in an email to The Crow’s Nest.
After receiving the vaccine, a brief observation will be required.
“Once the vaccine is administered you will be led to an area where you will be observed for 15 to 30 minutes depending on your history of allergy reaction,” Puccio said.
Puccio encourages all students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated.
“Vaccinations are essential to getting the university life back to what is expected,” Puccio said.
Appointments are required for this event. You can schedule an appointment by calling (727) 873-4422 and pressing option “2” when prompted.
You must bring your USF ID and state ID or visa to your appointment.
As additional vaccines become available and future events are scheduled USF students, staff and faculty will be notified via email.
