After a loss in game one, the University of South Florida baseball team took not one, but two victories after Friday and Saturday’s games against Tulane to close out the series.

Despite the out hits against the Green Wave by 8-6, the score ended 5-0 on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Ethan Brown, pitcher of the week, had a rough start allowing three runs and exiting at the seventh inning to allow Tanner Mink to pitch.

“We didn’t capitalize on our offensive opportunities in Thursday’s loss, but did a much better job over the final two games of the series,” head coach Billy Mohl said.

In Friday’s game, the Bulls gave an outstanding run-rule victory 15-3 over Tulane.

Achieving a season high, every Bull at bat scored or drove a run.

Daniel Cantu, Eric Snow and Rafeal Betancourt all drove three runs while Bobby Boser, John Montes and Betancourt recorded two hits.

Cantu now leads USF in home runs with 7 and 30 run battle ins (RBI) this season, matching his last season.

To close out the series against Tulane’s Green Wave, the Bulls closed out with a 5-3.

Eric Snow, freshman infielder, stood out in Saturday’s game after two RBI, two walks, 3 runs scored and a home run. Boser also drove a notable run in the fifth to bring the lead 3-0.

Tulane finally got on the score board top of the sixth inning with one homer and one single score in the eighth and ninth inning.

“We struggled to put together series wins early in the season, but we talked about the conference slate being a new season,” Mohl said. “We’ve won two straight now and want to keep that rolling.”

The series win against the Green Wave is the first since 2018 for the Bulls.

South Florida now has won its two-conference series leading to a tied top American Athletic Conference standing.
