Alex Golesh, head coach of the University South Florida’s football team, was included in “Top 15 Coaches under 40” by CBS Sports national writer, Dennis Doss.
After leading an outstanding offense at Tennesse, Golesh was named amongst Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman, Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, Purdue’s Ryan Walters and many other high profile coaches.
“The 15 head coaches and assistants listed below will be shaping the future of the game,” said Dodd in his story. “In fact, many of them have already gotten started.”
Coach Golesh started his first-year coaching with the Bulls back in early December of last year.
The notable achievement comes after Tennessee had an explosive breakout season this past fall and Golesh was a big reason why.
“Tennessee’s breakout season was also Golesh’s breakout season,” Dodd said, “He developed quarterback Hendon Hooker into a Heisman Trophy finalist.”
Hooker landed with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL Draft’s third round this past Friday.
Dodd wrote: “Every step he’s taken has been the right one in Golesh’s career.”
Golesh also coached 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner Jalin Hyatt.
Hyatt was the first-ever player at Tennessee winning the honor of the nation’s most outstanding receiver.
Tennessee’s offense went from No. 108 ranking when Hyatt started to No. 1 in 2022.
Named 247 Sports’ Offensive Coordinator of the Year, Golesh was the offense’s play-caller contributing to Tennessee being the No. 1 ranked in the nation in scoring, yards, points per possession, and yards per play in the 2022 regular college football season.
The Bulls will open their 2023 season on September 2, at Western Kentucky and returning to the bay at Raymond James Stadium on Sep. 9, to face the Florida A&M Rattlers.
