The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played long time NFC South rival the Atlanta Falcons on a Sunny day at the Raymond James Stadium resulting in the second loss in a row at home.
The Buccaneers were coming into week seven off a loss from the previous week to the Detroit Lions at home.
With the possibility of overtime on the table, the score was tied up in the last 45 seconds of the fourth quarter after a field goal by kicker Chase McLaughlin.
“I mean you’re just hoping for overtime,” quarterback Baker Mayfield told The Crow’s Nest in the post-game press conference, “There’s no expectations you’re just hoping for the best and just to give us one more chance to get the ball back and go winner for us.”
The rival team came out with the same number of penalties.
Penalties were no stranger to the Buccaneers in this game as players recorded nine penalties, seven of them on the offense. Last week’s game against the Lions only had five.
In comparison to week one’s three penalties against the Minnesota Vikings, this game was a large jump.
“We eliminated them in practice, gotta eliminate them in the game,” head coach Todd Bowles said in the post-game press conference, “It takes more focus from a coaching standpoint, from a player standpoint, gotta be held accountable on all counts.”
As the focus on the field continues, defense linebacker Yaya Diaby, showed his in a crucial fumble early on in third quarter after the Falcons dropped a snap.
“We made plays at the end to tie it and we wanted to go score a touchdown and we didn’t do that,” Mike Evans said in the post-game locker room interviews.
Evans, a wide receiver, had a 40-yard touchdown pass from Mayfield in the first quarter — marking the team’s the only touchdown of the game.
The Buccaneers will be on the road before coming back home to Raymond James Stadium to play the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m.
