The University of South Florida’s football team is a few games away from closing the fall 2023 season, and fans are continuing to ride a rollercoaster of emotions.
USF has seen more losses than wins in the past couple years and as that goes on, the Raymond James Stadium continues to see a difference in its Bull’s fan attendance. Fans online have used their platform to show their support, however that changes week by week.
“I think our fans should be encouraged by the fact that we have continued to grow our kids play really hard and continue to pour into them both from a show up to the game standpoint, to what it looks like on social media to supporting our collective,” head coach Alex Golesh told The Crow’s Nest in a press conference.
As the Bulls are two games short of a bowl game, fans finally have something to be proud of and know the feeling of what a college game day really feels like.
Fans show their support online upon various platforms, X (formerly known as “Twitter”), seems to make the most waves.
Tweets flood in as plays go on. Fans post about plays not agreed with and without a thought, emotions during the game are made public.
With consecutive away games for the football team this season, the support strays from the stands to the timelines.
Players are also connected online and can read everything from the good and the bad, from hours or days after a win and/or loss.
For the first time in a long time, Golesh brings in a culture that makes students almost feel like “Champa Bay” again.
A winning culture may be a stranger to past USF football fans, but not for USF women’s basketball fans.
“Alex and his staff and our football program, we haven’t been there for a long time, so I encourage all Bull’s nation to continue to support the student athletes through the good times and through the bad times,” women’s basketball coach Jose Fernandez said in a press conference.
As the football season starts to come to an end, my message to fans is to spread positivity while riding the roller coaster a little bit longer and to never stop “Bull-ieving.”
