At every stop, he forged connections, turning his teams into families and instilling a belief that each athlete could rise to their highest potential.

Abdur-Rahim’s first head coaching role at Kennesaw State University revealed the depth of his talent as a program builder. His work at Kennesaw led to the Owls’ historic 26-win season and their first NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2022-2023 season. Under his guidance, Kennesaw went from struggling to thriving, and his influence brought renewed pride to the university’s athletic department.

Since joining USF, Abdur-Rahim worked tirelessly to set a tone of excellence. Last season, he guided the Bulls to an impressive winning streak and ultimately led the team to win the conference championship, marking a significant achievement in USF basketball history.

For his efforts, he was recognized with the Coach of the Year award, solidifying his status as a transformative figure in the program. His vision centered on creating a legacy, both in wins and in fostering a championship mindset among his players. Always a mentor at heart, he emphasized the importance of character, pushing his athletes to excel not only as basketball players but as individuals.

Abdur-Rahim also worked closely with the USF football team, mentoring athletes to help them achieve their greatest potential. In his brief time at USF, he quickly became a pillar within the community, impacting lives both on and off the court.
