Despite suffering the effects of a chaotic hurricane season, SAILebration, a coveted tradition at USF St. Petersburg, is set to return this fall.
SAILebration is a semi-annual sunset dinner cruise for graduates to celebrate their achievements with guests. This year, fall graduates will set sail on Dec. 9 aboard the Yacht Starship.
Graduates and attendees will hear from USF President Rhea Law, St. Petersburg campus regional chancellor Christian Hardigree and recent alumi of USF.
Director of commencement and founder of the SAILebration event, Amberly Nelson, notes that graduates are not only welcomed during this event, but are “congratulated to the alumni family.”
This event is something that no graduate wants to miss, according to Nelson, it is “a unique opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on their journey alongside the friends, family and faculty who supported them along the way.”
Check-in will begin at 5 p.m. while boarding will start at 5:30 p.m. The yacht is slated to return to the St. Petersburg Marina at Eighth Avenue Southeast around 8:30 p.m.
Attendees are expected to dress in business casual attire, or more formal, and a valid ID is required for entry.
As for parking, it is advised to park either in the parking garage or in USF parking areas P5, P7, P8 and P12. A map with the parking spots and the St. Petersburg pier is provided below.
Following this event, the commencement ceremonies for graduates of all three campuses will be held at the Yuengling Center at the USF Tampa campus, on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14.
