Winter break has been the perfect time to explore St. Petersburg. The Globe Coffee Lounge, located downtown, is instantly a new favorite. Now that the new semester has started, the café hours are suitable for college students since they are open Monday- Thursday noon to 1 a.m., Friday noon to 2 a.m., and Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The lounge, located at 532 First Ave. North, has a special theme for each day, to fit every personality.

Monday is the starving artist special; Tuesdays feature $3 beers beginning at 6 p.m. and on Wednesdays, tarot readings.

On Thursdays if you purchase a tasty dessert you get a free cup of coffee and the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month are Alan Watts discussion meetings. Fridays you can enjoy delicious Sangrias and Saturdays you can re-live your childhood with game night beginning at 5 p.m.

While enjoying the atmosphere of The Globe Coffee Lounge, they also offer a great menu with a variety of yummy dishes to choose from. Even though we’re still technically in winter, I am looking forward to dining here in the summer months to enjoy their Global Nachos served with black beans, cheese, salsa, and jalapenos.

The comforting meals are homemade, affordable, and if you are vegan or vegetarian no need to worry because there are plenty of dishes for you to choose from as well.

Musicians are especially welcome and if your talent is playing acoustic/alternative music drop by a CD and you may get a chance to play there. The website also features a blog that informs readers on upcoming dessert specials and events that the café is hosting.
