Graduation checklist: Deadlines quickly approaching

Commencement for spring 2012 is scheduled for Sunday, May 6 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater. Both graduate and undergraduate students will participate in the same ceremony on this day.
Students who plan on graduating in May should fill out their application for graduation by no later than Feb. 3. The bachelor’s degree application can be printed online or a copy can be retrieved in the Academic Advising office, located in Davis 134. The master’s degree application can also be found online.
Once students apply for graduation, they will also need to sign up to be part of the commencement ceremony. This application is due by April 13 and must be filled out online. Students are recommended to order their cap and gown from the USF St. Petersburg Barnes & Noble bookstore to be sure that they are purchasing USF approved regalia. There are different regalia for bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates. They will go on sale beginning March 5. Honors students have the option of ordering an honors sash. Students who are not sure if they are graduating in May should direct all of their questions to their academic adviser. For students who still need to complete classes in summer 2012 in order to fully meet graduation requirements, there is an option to participate in the spring 2012 commencement ceremony. Check with an academic adviser to confirm the requirements.
