Briefs: New website delayed, recent alumnus to host photo exhibit

The release of USF St. Petersburg’s new website has been put on hold until after the end of the semester.

According to Michel Fougeres, USFSP’s Strategic Web Developer & Project Leader, “design revisions” are the cause of the delay.

The site will eventually see a massive redesign, on the front end and back, to emphasize both that USFSP is a separate university from USF Tampa and its position as “the jewel by the bay.” Core sections of the site such as admissions and basic information about the school will be updated first, to be followed by pages about the three colleges and individual departments.

“I want to make us all delighted when we go to that web page, to say, ‘this is us—we’ve captured that personality,’ ” Fougeres said in a previous interview with The Crow’s Nest.

A graduate of the December 2011 class who won the USF World International Photo Competition will be featured in an exhibit showcasing his photos of the northern Indian Himalayan Mountains, southern Ethiopia, Argentine Patagonia and Haiti.

Ryan Mitchell, whose photography has also been featured in the Tampa Bay Times, will present his art in an exhibit called “Experiential Photography From Abroad.” The show opens on Saturday, April 7 at Kahwa Café South and will be on display until the end of April.

Opening night will feature regional food with tastes from India and Ethiopia, paired with Argentinian wine. There is no charge for the exhibit.

Kahwa South is located at 212 2nd St. South in downtown St. Petersburg.
