REGIONAL CHANCELLOR WANTED! Inquire within

Calling all regional chancellor hopefuls: a job opening is up for grabs at USF St. Petersburg—the coquina-cast campus turned jewel by the bay!

Full-time job for full-time pay plus benefits! USFSP is seeking to fill this role with someone who possesses “unquestioned integrity, exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.” Experience is necessary.

In addition to overseeing USFSP’s growth spurt, the chancellor must be able to maintain control in a high-stress environment! USF faces its fifth year of budget cuts (with a $5 million cut for USFSP), and the chancellor must have the foresight to balance investment in the future without compromising the students currently enrolled.

USFSP is a public institution with private political inner workings. It shouldn’t be run with a cut-and-dried mentality. Maintaining a level of transparency is a must.

Paid position also requires empathy and understanding for the 6,000 paying customers.

The student loan debt clock hit roughly $1 trillion earlier this year, which makes the student’s financial sacrifice to attend college deeper than a simple investment in their futures. College debt has become the alumni’s mortgage, and most graduates will be paying back college bills long after they’ve secured careers.

The job opening requires a chancellor who will critically consider the changing trends in higher education and what a degree provides students after graduation.

The incoming chancellor needs to be mindful that prospective growth is secondary to focusing on the students already enrolled in the school.

In addition to work on site, the regional chancellor must report efficiently to the university president in Tampa. Must have understanding of a university within a larger system.

While the chancellor is oftentimes regarded as the face of the university, this isn’t the most important aspect of the job. Being friendly is a plus.

Knowledge of state politics, state legislature and budgets is also important.

A chancellor who admits missteps and works to correct institutional wrongdoings is integral to a university’s growth. University development exists beyond renovations or physical expansion.

This is an extra-ordinary opportunity to become a key player in an ever-emerging system. Come be part of the team!
