Studying abroad not so expensive

The sun sets over a magical new city, and night life emerges. You have never seen anything like it. You find yourself immersed in a different culture, language, and way of life. You are not in America.

There are plenty of opportunities at USF St. Petersburg to travel and explore other countries while learning invaluable lessons and making friends that can last a lifetime. What is even better, you earn college credits in less time than regular courses, and for about the same amount of money.

Most programs last from one to three weeks, depending on how many credits they are worth. All of them include housing and classes, and some even include food. Airfare is purchased separately — that way students can shop around for the airline they prefer.

The annual summer trip to Spain is for three weeks. It includes food, housing and tuition. Students earn six credits, and pay about the same price they would pay if they didn’t go. Group sizes are small to make for a better learning experience.

There are programs to suit almost any major, and advisors will help set students up with the right one. Some of the courses offered abroad are language studies, business, criminology and government. For a full list of all the programs and destinations students can go to www.usfsp.edu/studyabroad or attend a “getting started” session on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. in the Coquina Club.

The website has an easily navigable menu with all of the essential information.

For any other questions and concerns, go to Bay 204 or email Wendy Baker at wbaker@usfsp.edu.
