Hurricane Eta was shortly upgraded to a category one hurricane, but downgraded to a tropical storm as it made landfall on the west coast of Florida. According to forecasts, Eta seems to be moving into the area with wind gusts ranging from 58 to 69 miles per hour.

The hurricane hasn’t disrupted usual activities much, according to students on Reddit.

One student said they plan to “do what I have been doing: stay indoors reading, playing video games, doing assignments… Just hoping there won’t be a power outage.”

Another student took the opportunity to put up their Christmas tree.

“How often do we get to say we decorated for Christmas during a tropical storm?”
