Letter to the Editor: Reproductive Rights in Florida

To the editor:

USFSP students, like people all over Florida, want the freedom to make their own personal health care decisions — no interference from politicians necessary. Certainly, this includes decisions about pregnancy.

And yet, the abortion bans passed in our state deny that freedom, not just freedom to access essential reproductive health care, but freedom to decide what is best for our own bodies and lives.

Fortunately, Floridians have a path to take this power back by putting an amendment on the November 2024 ballot. If passed, this amendment would ensure decisions about pregnancy are between patients and their doctors — not politicians.

To get on the ballot, state law requires 891,589 Florida voters to submit a written petition. Will you join us by submitting one? Download the petition form at FloridiansProtectingFreedom.com and mail it in today.

It’s your generation that has the most to lose or gain in this campaign.
