The Rice Owls (3-8) will be hosting South Florida (6-5) on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. for the Bulls’ final regular-season game.
The Bulls have been on a tear, putting up 122 combined points in their last two games, and they’ll look to keep that rolling against a Rice team that has struggled mightily this year.
The Owls have had a rough season, resting at 3-8. Offensively, Rice simply hasn’t found some sort of rhythm as they haven’t scored more than 20 points in four out of their last five. They start slow often, which also could be problematic against South Florida, a team which has found its rhythm, being explosive over the recent weeks.
For South Florida, this will be the last chance to seal what has been a good season so far and leave them on a high note going into bowl season. At 6-5, the Bulls have more than just pride in their minds, as a win will seal their post-season hopes. The Bulls have an intimidating offense, especially in the second half of games, and look to extend that into this matchup against a solid but struggling Rice defense at stopping dynamic offenses.
The in last year’s meeting, South Florida beat Rice 24-17 in a game they were able to take advantage of the most critical moments. The Bulls pull away in the second half and having a bowl game on the line should be enough to get a win to end the regular season.
