What to do for spring break in St. Petersburg

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Located at 1101 Country Club Way S in St. Petersburg, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve offers several nature preserves and trails. With only $3 admission for adults and $1.50 for kids, visiting all five ecosystems and their own personal living history museum has never been easier.

Visit one of the many beaches in St. Pete

It’s a little chilly out there, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out one of St. Petersburg’s many beaches. There’s St. Pete Beach. Treasure Island, Spa Beach, Madeira Beach, Pass-a-Grille Beach and North Redington Beach — just a few to name. Spend your day lounging on the shore with a book in hand or bring a volleyball and engage in a little beach volleyball, either way you’re sure to have a good time.

Sunken Gardens

Located at 1825 4th St. N in St. Petersburg, Sunken Gardens is the oldest living museum. This 100-year-old botanical experience is home to some of the oldest tropical plants in the country. Winding paths and even a cascading waterfall creates a serene image that you will not want to miss. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62+ and $4 for children 2 to 11.


Morean Arts Center

“Always free and open to the public” is the Morean Arts Center motto. Located on 719 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg, the Morean Arts Center features both local and globally-known artists. Its contemporary gallery is one of the oldest in Florida and the center offers classes, events and activities throughout the year.

Visit a museum

The Dali Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Holocaust Museum, The Museum of History, The Chihuly Collection and  The Children’s Museum are just a handful of museums located in St. Petersburg. Spend the day wandering through the exhibits with friends or family there is something for everyone to enjoy.


Grab a cup of joe

Great coffee is one of the seven wonders of the world, and luckily for St. Petersburg there’s plenty of cafes to pick from. Check out Black Crow Coffee Shop, Bandit Coffee Co. or Kahwa Coffee to find your new favorite place. Grab a cappuccino, a good book and a comfy spot and have yourself a lazy day drifting away in a cafe.


Beer at the Bench

Spring break just wouldn’t be the same without popping open a cold one — provided you’re of legal drinking age of course. Head on over to Green Bench Brewing Co., located at 133 Baum Ave. N in St. Petersburg, to enjoy one of St. Petersburg’s most treasured bars. Green Bench brews a variety of beers that range from India pale ale to saisons. Grab a few friends, a Sunshine City IPA and hang out in Green Bench’s beer garden.
