USF St. Petersburg students had the opportunity to mingle and speak with student organization leaders during the Bull Market Grab-N-Go tabling event last Tuesday.

The on-campus event was hosted by the Office of Leadership and Student Organizations and featured six organizations, including Compass, the Marine Adventures Club and Harborside Activities Board.

When asked how it feels to be on campus for the event, Student Success Advocate Antonia Robinson said, “It’s like we’re all home again.”

“It’s giving me the energy from the people interaction that I’ve been missing from just virtual interaction,” Robinson said. “It’s great seeing the students we haven’t seen in forever, seeing some new students we haven’t seen before and just feeling like a part of the campus community.”

Student Success Advocate Amanda Vasquez joined Robinson in representing Compass during the event. Both were masked and offering flyers with tips on how to register for classes, form study habits and establish academic success.

“It feels good to see students in person and get to chat with them,” Vasquez said. “(We’re offering) some simple tips to help students prepare for the end of spring semester. We know that Spring Break back-to-back with exam week is really rough, so getting students set up right now is important.”

Olivia Smith, a Marine Adventures Club member, is new to the St. Petersburg campus. She was excited to learn about the other clubs offered on campus.

“It’s cool to see other clubs,” Smith said. “I only knew about (the Marine Adventures Club) because I met somebody who was in this club. I’m so happy it’s starting to become normal.”

Smith said that the club plans to host beach clean-ups in the fall, providing that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic begin to decline and it’s safe for students to participate.

Harborside Activities Board passed out buttons, metal straws and supplies for participants of its notorious Cardboard Boat Race event.

Students were required to follow campus COVID-19 guidelines, wear face coverings and maintain social distance during the event.
