The approved operating budget for The Crow’s Nest for the 2012-2013 academic year
A draft of the tentative budget for The Crow’s Nest for the 2013-2014 academic year
The following changes were made:
- Student Government President Mark Lombardi-Nelson suggested increasing the work time from 32 weeks to 40 weeks to more accurately reflect work done over the summer and between semesters.
- The editor’s salary was increased from $8.25 to $8.50.
- The editor’s weekly hours increased from 20 to 25 to more accurately reflect work done.
- The managing editor’s weekly hours increased from 10 to 15 to more accurately reflect work done.
- The advertising sales representative position was changed to a marketing manager position to address a lack of awareness of The Crow’s Nest on campus.
- The photography expense was increased from $400 to $1,000 for purchase of a still and video camera for staff use.
- The web development expense was decreased from $600 to $200 to more accurately reflect web expenses.
- A $500 line was added for purchase of new newspaper racks on campus.
- The expected advertising income amount was decreased to more accurately reflect sales figures.
The 2013-2014 budget is adapted from conversations between Ren LaForme, the Crow’s Nest‘s editor in chief, and Lombardi-Nelson, and may not reflect the final version presented to the Student Government Senate for approval.
